"I Lost Myself, Loving Her" (004)
By Her Side….
The night was deep, silent, and serene, but inside
Sakhi’s mind, an electrifying adventure unfolded. In her dream, she was in the
vibrant world of PUBG, her heart pounding as she and her long-distance best
friend, Vivek, prepared for battle.
"Heeeyyy Pochinki! We are landing!" Sakhi
shouted with excitement, her in-game avatar, Neha, descending rapidly toward
the familiar battle zone.
"I too! Let's loot fast!" Vivek’s voice
rang through her headset, his enthusiasm matching hers.
The moment their feet touched the ground, the real
action began. Sakhi sprinted into a nearby building, scanning every corner for
weapons. A flash of excitement ran through her when she spotted an M416 rifle
with a red dot scope lying on the floor. Her hands, steady with practice,
grabbed it instantly.
"Hey Neha, where are you? Enemies near me,
come fast!" Vivek’s urgent voice pulled her focus back to the battle.
"On my way!" Sakhi—Neha—replied, weaving
through the buildings.
As she reached Vivek’s location, chaos erupted.
Bullets flew, adrenaline surged, and the two of them fought side by side,
taking down enemies with calculated precision. Vivek knocked two opponents to
the ground while Sakhi charged in, her weapon blazing. Their squadmates joined
the assault, turning the fight into an all-out war. The enemy team, positioned
in a nearby building, tried to hold their ground, but Vivek and Sakhi
outmaneuvered them. One by one, they eliminated every last rival.
"We did it, Neha! We wiped the squad!"
Vivek cheered, his in-game character breaking into a victory dance.
Sakhi laughed and joined in, her avatar spinning
around in triumph. The sheer thrill of the battle made her heart race.
Then, suddenly—
"HEY! WE WON THE GAME!"
Sakhi jolted awake, her voice echoing through the
quiet hostel room. Blinking in confusion, she looked around and realized that
it was early morning—6 AM. Her roommates stirred, groaning in protest.
Embarrassment flooded her cheeks. She quickly
pulled her blanket over her head, muffling her laughter. "Oops," she
whispered to herself, shaking her head at her own antics. Despite the awkward
wake-up call, she couldn't help but smile. The dream had felt so real, so
exhilarating.
After a few more minutes of lounging in bed, she
finally got up, stretching lazily. The morning air carried a sense of
positivity, filling her with motivation. She started her day with a comforting
bowl of oats, sprinkled with crushed dry fruits, savoring the warmth before
getting ready for class.
Her best friend, Jyoti, stood beside her, tying her
hair into a perfect ponytail. Jyoti wasn't just a friend—she was a sister in
every way that mattered. She had been Sakhi’s pillar of strength, the person
who always stood by her, making even the dullest moments shine with laughter
and warmth.
"You know, you scream a lot in your
sleep," Jyoti teased, nudging her playfully.
Sakhi chuckled. "It’s not my fault I’m a
champion in my dreams too."
"Yeah, yeah. Now hurry up, or we’ll be late
for class."
With Jyoti by her side, the morning felt even
better. They both headed toward Utkarsh Classes, their minds filled with determination.
The journey of JEE preparation was intense, but having a companion like Jyoti
made the struggle easier. They studied hard, motivated each other, and found
joy in the little moments—whether it was sharing notes, grabbing quick snacks
between classes, or laughing over Jyoti’s endless stories.
Just as they reached class, Sakhi’s phone rang—her
Realme device vibrating with an incoming call.
Tringgg… Tringgg…
She smirked, already knowing who it was.
"Hlo, Vivek, you mad mental!" she greeted
with a teasing tone.
"Whoa, what happened now?" he asked,
amused.
"Do you even know what happened to me this
morning?" she continued dramatically.
"What?" Vivek asked, curious.
"We were playing PUBG... IN MY DREAM!"
Sakhi burst out, laughing.
Vivek roared with laughter. "Oh my god, Neha!
Of all things to dream about! Girls usually have fairy-tale dreams, magical
castles, and romantic fantasies, and here you are, dreaming about a freakin’
battle royale!"
"Shut up!" she snapped, fake-pouting.
"This is all your fault! I spend my entire day playing with you and
watching your live streams. You’ve made me a complete game addict!"
"Oh please, Neha. You don’t HAVE to play. You
just love playing with me and watching me stream," he teased.
Sakhi groaned but couldn’t deny the truth.
"Whatever. What are you doing right now?"
"Sitting in my room."
"Then let’s play PUBG!"
"Why not? Let’s do this!"
With that, they hung up, and the familiar PUBG
theme music rang through her phone once more. The excitement returned, and she
knew—no matter how stressful life got, these small joys, these cherished
friendships, would always keep her going.
